Srinagar, Feb 10 (KNO): Only those cases which require specialized care are referred from SDH Dawar to District hospital Bandipora as per the established referral protocols, Government said on Tuesday.
In a written reply to the question of MLA Gurez Nazir Ahmad Khan, Health and Medical Education Department Minister, Sakina Itoo, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that District Hospital Bandipora functions as the designated referral hospital for Gurez constituency in accordance with the existing health-care referral framework.
"Patients from Tulail area are first examined and managed at Sub-District Hospital Dawar. Only those cases which require specialized care or advanced management beyond the available facilities at SDH Dawar are referred onwards to District Hospital Bandipora, as per established referral protocols," she said.
Itoo added that SDH Dawar is presently functioning as a sun district hospital and has not yet been notified/designated as a First Referral Unit. "However, the hospital is providing primary and secondary services to the population of Gurez and Tulail areas within the scope of its sanctioned infrastructure, level health-care manpower and facilities," she added.
Itoo said the designation of any health institution as a First Referral Unit is contingent upon fulfillment of prescribed norms, including availability of required specialists, infrastructure, equipment, and support services as per guidelines issued on the matter by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
